Family portraits become more valuable with time.
When your children are young, growing up, becoming teenagers, leaving home or starting families of their own, it can feel like life keeps moving before you have a chance to properly pause and take it in.
A family portrait session gives you a way to hold onto this season.
Not just what everyone looked like, but who they were. Their personalities. Their expressions. The way they stood together. The way the children related to each other. The stage your family was in before everything changed again.
At Dezine by Mauro, family portraits are created as finished artwork for the home.
Portraits you can walk past every day, portraits your children can grow up seeing, and portraits that may one day become part of your family’s history.
A family portrait does not have to be stiff, formal or predictable.
Some families want something classic and elegant. Others want something playful, expressive or full of personality. Some want a beautiful portrait for the wall. Others want a collection of images showing different combinations of the family.
Your session can include:
Full family portraits
Parents with children
Siblings together
Individual portraits of each child
Grandparents and extended family
Parents on their own
Pets included as part of the family
During your consultation, we will talk through who is being photographed, what combinations matter most, and what you would love to create for your home.
Family portraits are not just for now.
They are for the hallway, the living room, the bedroom, the staircase, the family room, or wherever you want to be reminded of the people who matter most.
Some clients choose one statement piece for the wall. Others create a series of portraits, an album, or a collection that includes different family combinations.
We will guide you through the portrait selection process and help you think about how the finished images could live in your home.
Before your session, our team will arrange a consultation to help plan the session.
We will discuss clothing, colours, family members, children’s ages, pets if included, and any particular portraits you know you want to create.
On the day, your photographer will guide the session. You do not need to know how to pose or manage every detail. We will help direct the family, adjust the arrangements, work through different combinations and capture the moments that feel most natural and meaningful.
Family sessions usually do not include professional hair and makeup as standard, but you are welcome to choose the Portrait Session + Makeover option if you would like styling for yourself as part of the session.
It is easy to keep putting family portraits off.
Everyone is busy. Someone does not want to be photographed. Someone wants to wait until they look different. The children are at awkward ages. The timing never feels perfect.
But years later, the thing people usually value is not perfection.
It is the memory.
The time you were all together.
The children as they were then.
The connection between siblings.
The stage of life you cannot recreate.
The portrait your children may one day show their own children.
As Stacey said after seeing her family portraits: “You can’t get that time back.”
That is why family portraits matter.
