Investing in Portraits: What to Know Before Your Session
At Dezine by Mauro, a portrait session is designed with the finished portraits in mind.
From the consultation to the styling, photography, lighting, direction and reveal, the experience is built around helping you create portraits you genuinely want to keep.
For some clients, that may mean a small number of favourite images.
For others, it may mean a wall portrait, an album, a printed collection, or a bespoke artwork created from one of their favourite portraits.
There is no single right way to invest in portraits. What matters is choosing the images and finished pieces that feel meaningful to you.
Your session fee
Your session fee secures your portrait experience at our Abbotsford studio.
Depending on the session option you choose, your session may include your pre-session consultation, your studio portrait session, professional guidance throughout the shoot, your portrait reveal, and professional hair styling and makeup if you choose the Portrait Session + Makeover option.
Portrait sessions are available Tuesday to Friday.
After your session, you will view your portraits and decide what you would like to purchase.

Your portraits are chosen after the session
At Dezine by Mauro, you do not need to choose a portrait package before you have seen your images.
This is intentional.
It is difficult to know what you will want until you see the portraits we have created for you. You may arrive thinking you only want one image and then find there are several you love. Or you may decide that a small, carefully chosen selection is exactly right.
During your reveal, you will view your portraits and choose what you would like to keep.
There is no requirement to purchase any particular package.
What do clients usually purchase?
Every client is different.
Some clients choose just a few favourite portraits. Others create a more complete collection, especially when the session includes different looks, family combinations, personal styling, or a meaningful milestone.
Finished portrait options may include printed portraits, wall art, albums, boxed collections or bespoke art portraits, depending on what you would like to create.
A family may want portraits of everyone together, the children individually, siblings, parents, grandparents or the family pet.
A Venus Rising client may want a collection that shows different sides of herself — elegant, powerful, soft, glamorous, expressive or intimate.
A pet portrait client may want one beautiful wall piece.
A bespoke art client may want something more imaginative, cinematic or highly finished.
The right investment depends on what you want the portraits to become.

Portraits are designed to be lived with
The Dezine by Mauro experience is not built around images that disappear into a folder on a computer and are forgotten.
The purpose is to create portraits you can live with.
Portraits for your wall.
Portraits for an album.
Portraits your children or grandchildren may one day hold.
Portraits that remind you of a chapter of life, a relationship, a milestone or a version of yourself that deserves to be remembered.
That is why we always create printed images, albums or wall art.
A finished portrait has a different presence when it becomes part of your home.
We understand that people often want to share their portraits with family and friends, so when you purchase a printed portrait, album or wall art piece, we provide a suitable-resolution copy of that purchased image for personal sharing by email or social media.
How much do people usually spend?
Final orders vary significantly.
Individual portraits start from $345 each, and there is no minimum order. You can choose as little or as much as you love after seeing your portraits.
Some clients choose only one or two favourite images. Others invest several thousand dollars, especially when creating larger portrait collections, albums, wall art or bespoke art pieces.
If you are planning on creating a meaningful collection of portraits, we recommend allowing at least $1,800.
That does not mean every client spends that amount. It simply gives you a more realistic reference point if you are thinking beyond one or two images and want to create something substantial from your session.

You are always in control of what you choose
The reveal is there to help you decide.
You will be guided through your images, shown the available options, and given the opportunity to choose the portraits and finished pieces you love.
Some clients choose more than they expected.
Some choose less.
The decision is yours.
The most important thing is that you choose portraits you are genuinely happy to own.
